Second Thanksgiving

So, if hobbits can have second breakfast, Dan and Emily can have second Thanksgiving.

And that’s exactly what we did tonight.

With the china.

After family Thanksgiving last week, we still had a turkey in our freezer. I guess that’s a fringe benefit of having a day job — I get a free 12-pound turkey for the holidays. So we did the cranberry sauce, three kinds of stuffing (oyster, sausage, and Stove Top), turkey, gravy, butternut squash, green beans and pumpkin pie tonight. We also threw a log on the fire and enjoyed the twinkling lights and ornaments on the Christmas tree.

I don’t think I could be more content.

Nice to see someone else loves stuffing as much as I do. LOL!

Dan is crazy about stuffing. He went all out, cut the loaf of bread, chopped the celery and onion. Then I was all, “But…can I just have Stove Top?”

      :D

I’ve tried getting him to blog again. I think it might take an intervention.

WE did the very same thing upon our return home from the holiday because we wanted left-overs!!!

This looks like a wonderful dinner and evening in.

With all the leftover turkey and stuffing, I think we could have third and fourth Thanksgivings too! :)

Isn’t feeling content the best? Especially when you have those wonderful things to share with a significant other who loves you as much as you love him? I never heard of oyster stuffing, and I love oysters! I’ll have to look online for a recipe so my husband can make it (he thankfully does the cooking!). And your fireplace and mantel are gorgeous!

Thanks, Karen. I hadn’t heard of oyster stuffing either. Maybe I can get Dan to pop in and leave you the link to the recipe he used. He really liked it.

We hosted Thanksgiving so we had several meals’ worth of leftovers. We’ve gotten through most of them – my husband is still working at some stuffing – but we’re out of mashed potatoes, so I’ll be making some tonight. There is no such thing as too many mashed potatoes.
