12 Ways to Give: Libraries

Do I really have to tell you why it’s a good idea to support your local library? I didn’t think so.

Now, the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library has the Indianapolis Public Library Foundation to take donations. But if you’re not from ’round these parts, it probably makes more sense to give locally. You can start by paying back those fines you owe.

If you’ve got more time than money, consider volunteering.

Ways to Volunteer

  • Man (or woman) the information desk
  • Become a tutor
  • Teach an informational course in your area of expertise
  • Teach someone to read
  • Deliver books to the homebound
  • Donate used books for the next library book sale fundraiser

All our used books go to the library now. Sometimes they can put them on the shelf and sometimes they sell them. Either way works for me :-)

So I glad I ran into this post. Just reminded me that I’ve been meaning to volunteer a writing workshop to the library for a while now. I’ve been procrastinating (mostly because I’m a little nervous)

It’s really amazing what the library has to offer though. I’m a big library fanatic and take advantage of it all the time. Within the past 2 months, I’ve “rented” 3 movies, taken a hypnotism class, made sushi, created a holiday card tree, and learn about skin care.
